Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
